This hike into the heart of Appenzell delivers some of the most iconic scenery in eastern Switzerland. is You’ll move through dramatic limestone landscapes, past alpine pastures, and spectacular lake sights.

Highlights of the trip include the Fählensee and the famous Saxer Lücke

This is an intermediate to difficult hike, approximately 15 km long with around 900 meters of elevation gain. Expect 6-7.5 hours of hiking. A solid level of fitness is required, as the terrain can be steep, rocky and uneven in sections. Proper mountain hiking shoes are a requirement to join due to the technical nature of the trail and changing alpine conditions.
