Get ready for one of the cultural highlights of the semester!

Together with ESN, we'll dive into the atmosphere of the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) – the biggest film festival in Switzerland and the second largest in the German-speaking region! Every autumn, thousands of film enthusiasts gather to enjoy around 100 films over eleven days during the annual festival.

We'll be watching Nuremberg (2025) in English with German subtitles, which is a brand-new drama directed by James Vanderbilt based on Jack El-Hai's book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist (2013). The film tells the story of young American psychiatrist Douglas Kelly (played by Oscar-winner Rami Malek), who had the task after World War II to determine whether the Nazi prisoners were mentally fit to stand trial. What begins as a scientifc and medical assignment quickly evolves into a dangerous psychological battlefield. Hermann Göring (played by Russell Crowe), Hitler's right-hand man, tries to twist every conversation to his advantage, while Kelly more and more struggles to uphold his integrity and uncover the truth. Nuremberg impressively showcasts this psychological battle and the high stakes over how history itself will be written by combining courtroom drama, historical reflection, and psychological thriller elements. The screening takes place in the Kongresshaus Zurich, which was built in connection with the Swiss National Exhibition of 1939. Today, together with the historic Tonhalle, it is recognised as a cultural landmark of Zurich. The Kongresshaus now combines historical flair with modern architecture, which makes it a unique and atmospheric venue for the Zurich Film Festival's gala premieres.

• Date: Sunday, 5 October 2025
• Meeting: We'll meet at 16:45 in front of the covered entrance of the Kongresshaus, right next to the sign "Restaurant".
• What to bring: All of you MUST bring a valid student ID (and ESN card), which you have to show upon entrance as we bought student discounted tickets!
• Note: Large bags (bigger than A4) might not be allowed into the screening room. All kinds of photo or audio recordings are strictly prohibited.
• 72h cancellation policy: If you cannot make it to the event, deregister latest three days before the event, and message one of the organisers. If you fail to deregister in advance, you will face a 2-week event ban and not get a discount.
