Are you guys ready to ride the steepest funicular in the world, the Stoosbahn? And are you excited about reaching the summit of Fronalpstock (1,922 meters), where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of over 10 lakes and countless mountain peaks, including the majestic Alps of central Switzerland? Then this is he event for you ! 

Keep in mind that this hike will include not only the very famous Gratwanderweg—a stunning ridge walk that offers some of the most spectacular vistas in the region- but also the ascent from the Stoosbahn arrival to the top of the mountain ! So, come prepared for a real hike ;-) (with plenty of breaks though, no worries !!) 

This trail takes us along the ridgeline, where we'll experience 360-degree views as we hike from Fronalpstock to Klingenstock (1,935 meters). Once we reach Klingenstock, we’ll take a moment to enjoy the incredible scenery before beginning our descent back to Stoos.

Distance: 12.7km
Elevation: 800m

NB: You can save yourself most of the elevation by taking the cablecar, but it costs an extra 22CHF and is not included in the ESN price. 

Timing:
Meeting point: 7:45 at Zurich main train station.
Once we get to Stoos, the hike will take around 6-7 hours including breaks, photos and lunch time.
Expected time of arrival back in Zurich: around 19:30.

What to Bring:

• Good hiking boots
• Weather-appropriate clothing (layers recommended), it can get windy, especially at the top ! 
• Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
• Packed lunch and snack (There is a restaurant on top of Fronalpstock where you can buy something to eat, but you know how Swiss prices can be...)
• Plenty of water (min 1.5 liters)
• Your best smile

Note: The hike is weather-dependent so may be cancelled last-minute

Note 2.0: Please make sure you are fit enough and have the right gear for this hike before joining, we do not want anyone left behind ! Of course if needed, there is the possibility to save yourself most of the elevation by taking the cablecar, but it costs an extra 22CHF and is not included in the ESN price.

Note 3.0: Every participant is responsible to have a valid health and accident insurance. Consider also getting a REGA membership, ie elicopter insurance (https://www.rega.ch/en/rega-patron/become-a-patron).

• If you have a GA, the event is free for you. Note that you have GA while registering and then we will confirm it as definite registration.
• If you are 25 years old or above: We can only arrange day travel ticket for a limited number of people on a first come first serve. We will inform you accordingly if you are eligible in terms of quota. If we reach the quota and if there are more registrations by people who are 25 or above, the following rule applies: In this case, if you don't have a GA or won't be able to buy your "Day travel ticket" yourself, you are not eligible to join, in accordance with SBB group travel discount rules

• ESNcards will be checked on the day of the event. If you register with the ESNcard option, please ensure your card is valid.
  

It is possible to cancel your participation up to 72h in advance to ask for a refund. After this time, no refund will be issued.
