An exchange in Switzerland without a ski trip and fondue is out of the question!

On the 25th of March we will go to Wildhaus for 3 days of skiing/snowboarding! Wildhaus is a small town in the canton of St. Gallen in the east of Switzerland. The skiing resort is well suited for all skiing levels, with a few slopes of each difficulty. 

On Friday afternoon we will leave Zurich HB and head to Wildhaus to arrive there in time for dinner! In the evening, we will split up into groups and everyone can have dinner somewhere in the town. On Saturday, we will head to the slopes and enjoy a delicious fondue dinner in the evening. Sunday will be our final day in the mountains and after a short cleanup of the hostel, we will go skiing one final time and then head back to Zurich in the late afternoon/evening.

The cost includes two train tickets to the ski area, 2 nights of accommodation and breakfast, 2 days of a ski pass, and a fondue dinner. The price does not include the ski or snowboard rental and lunch and dinner (apart from fondue). 

We can offer to organise ski instructors if you want to learn and are a beginner. One ski instructor can take about 5 beginners and the cost would be around 300chf/instructor/day, so that would be 60chf per day if you split it and if we have a group of 5 beginners. We would pay this once we are there, so this adds no extra costs to your sign up fee.

Requirements:

• You should be at least 18 years old.

• Bring your skis/snowboards and boots if you have them, otherwise you can also rent them in Wildhaus. If you need to rent them, let us know your shoe size, height, weight, and ski level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) so we can organise it for a fast pickup.

• Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or if you would like us to buy anything specific for breakfast! We are buying this beforehand and would like to have most things sorted out before our arrival!

What to bring:

• Fitted sheet, pillow case (min. 40x40cm), sleeping bag for our stay in the hostel.

• Whatever skiing equipment you have.

• We will send out a list with all the suggested items closer to the event date once everyone has registered.

Cancellations are only possible up to ten days ahead of the event. 

Important: (Exchange) students from the ESN Winterthur section will need to pay 220 CHF, regardless of whether they have an ESN card or not.

Price for ESN card holders: 200chf

Price for non-ESN card holders: 220chf

If you are 19 and younger at the time of the event, there is a 20chf reduction on the ski pass (you can remove 20chf from the cost).

If you have a GA, you can reduce the cost of the event by 30chf since you will not need to pay for transportation.

If you are over 25 there may be extra costs due to transportation. We will give you information regarding this once everyone has signed up.

(Exchange) students from the ESN Winterthur section will need to pay 220 CHF, regardless of whether they have an ESN card or not.
